BRITNEY Spears has revealed the heartbreaking reason she drinks alcohol despite insisting she “doesn’t like it” before her arrest earlier this week.
The 44-year-old was arrested and charged with a DUI near her California home on Wednesday evening.
She was nicked by California Highway Patrol at around 9:30pm on Wednesday night in Ventura County, The U.S. Sun has confirmed from court records.
The Oops I did it Again singer was booked into jail at 3am, records indicate. She was later released at 6am.
Britney has candidly opened up on her controversial conservatorship and drinking to cope with heartache.
The social media carousel post first featured a gold chalice and was then followed by snaps of magazine shoots taken during her conservatorship.

She began her Thursday post saying she “doesn’t like” drinking but partakes when her heart has endured “too much.”
Speaking out she said: “I’m not lying though. I don’t like drinking. I do it for my heart when it’s been through too much but I’m weird, I take on a lot of pain.
“I honestly shouldn’t and I put it in a lot of work people will never see … I’m posting this now because the language we speak today, our generation about technology in secret is TRASH, admit it !!!”
The singer dug into details on her conservatorship claiming where she went, who she saw and what she ate were “controlled.”
Britney was hospitalised on a psychiatric hold in January 2008 after she locked herself in a bathroom with her two sons.
By February, she was placed into an indefinite conservatorship that gave her father and a lawyer control of her finances and behaviour.
Britney has claimed she was “abused” when she ever decided to “speak up” on her treatment.
There were multiple attempts to fight the conservatorship in the decade after it was put in place, but they all failed.
She said in the post: “I will show you the pictures that were taken of me during the conservatorship that were all a waste.
“I was never a star that could speak up in the conservatorship !!! I was in a business that preyed over the innocent and controlled where I went, who I saw, what I ate, which is 100% unfair and if I spoke up I was abused and I never did anything wrong !!! Here are the pics !!!”
The star confessed that during her time in conservatorship she rarely felt “beautiful,” and the one time she did was when she posed up for photographer Ellen Von Unwerth in New York.
Britney continued: “‘I will show you over 40 pictures I did with the conservatorship that are not only embarrassing and demoralizing.
“It almost feels like bullying from a business that was created by my father so he could have 10 women on his tour bus during my tours. The secret is that I was NEVER a star in the conservatorship. I was ABUSED 100 percent!!!”
The star also shed some light on her bizarre dancing Instagram videos, she said: “There’s a reason I obviously don’t like pictures because I like to SEE MY BODY ALIVE AND MOVING !!!”
This comes as Britney was jailed on Wednesday night.
According to TMZ, she was also taken to a local hospital to have blood drawn after the arrest.
In recent hours, she also deleted her very active Instagram account.
Britney’s manager Cade Hudson broke his silence hours after the arrest.
“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” he told The U.S. Sun in a statement.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.
“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
This isn’t the singer’s first run-in with officials.
According to Page Six, 14 calls have been made to Britney’s home since 2024.
