WOLVES’ G-Force dealt yet another blow to Aston Villa’s top five hopes – and made sure Rob Edwards’ side are NOT the worst Premier League team ever.
Joao Gomes opened the scoring just after the hour with his first goal in a year – and sub Rodrigo Gomes made it two in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
Wolves may be heading for the drop – but they are making sure they capture some scalps on the way.
Ten days ago, they took a point off Arsenal at Molineux to open up the title race.
And here they stopped stumbling Villa from cementing their place in the top three and putting pressure on Manchester City.
Unai Emery’s side dropped even more points in their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
But Wolves also made it to the 13-point mark – passing Derby’s record Premier League low tally of 11 in 2008.
Emery went into the game aiming to end his Molineux hoodoo – he has never won there as a manager with Villa or Arsenal.
And that run continued for the furious Spaniard who made straight for the tunnel at the final whistle.
Emery has now seen his team win just twice in seven league games.
