Inter Miami beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 back in December at the Chase Stadium to claim the trophy.

The victory is the club’s first MLS Cup win since entering the competition in 2020.

It is tradition that the Championship-winning side is invited to the President’s House.

The Columbus Crew were the last MLS side to take up the invitation in 2024.

The Athletic have claimed that a White House official has confirmed the plans.

However, it is not yet known if Messi, 38, himself will attend the trip to the White House.

A representative has not responded to enquiries over the Argentine star’s plans to attend.

Inter Miami do have a game just two days later against D.C United at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore – just 53 miles from the White House.

If he does attend, Messi would be following in the footsteps of long-term rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star met president Trump in November.

He attended a black-tie dinner at the White House that was hosted by the former The Apprentice host.

The dinner was on the same day as the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to the Oval Office.

Inter Miami owner David Beckham will know all about the visit to the White House.

The retired star was part of one visit after winning the 2011 MLS Cup with LA Galaxy.

Meanwhile, Messi was tackled to the floor by a pitch invader in a friendly match in Puerto Rico.

The incident happened as fans interrupted Inter Miami’s clash with Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle.

Messi joined Inter Miami in 2023 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract.

He has played 89 times for the club and scored 77 goals and assisted 44 more.
