Jose Mourinho snubs Real Madrid radio booth to watch Benfica clash from unusual place after Champions League ban

JOSE MOURINHO reportedly watched Benfica’s Champions League exit to Real Madrid from the team bus.

The Special One was suspended for last night’s playoff game, which Real Madrid won 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

Portuguese outlet Record claims Benfica had managed to reserve a radio booth inside the Santiago Bernabeu for Mourinho to watch the game from.

However, it’s believed the gaffer instead remained behind on Benfica’s team bus and watched the entire game on television.

Interestingly, it appears he also gave his team talk on the coach before the match.

It’s added that Mourinho did not leave Benfica’s bus upon arrival at the Bernabeu.

And he only made his way to the away dressing room at half time, having last been spotted leaving the team hotel in the afternoon.

It is unclear why Mourinho chose his tactic of staying on the bus.

But he was could only watch powerlessly as Real came from behind to knock Benfica out of Europe and reach the Champions League last 16.

Fans were certainly amused by Mourinho’s four-wheeled hideaway, with many pointing to his famous “park the bus” tactics for reference.

One said: “Taking his ‘park the bus’ style to a next level.”

Another declared: “Classic Jose.”

One noted: “So so Jose.”

Another added: “Mou making it about Mou.”

Real are now in the draw for Friday’s last-16 decider.

They will face either Sporting Lisbon or Manchester City, with the other side taking on Bodo/Glimt.

Should Real make it to the quarters, they will face one of Atalanta, Arsenal or Bayern Munich.

A semi against PSG, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham awaits.

And if they make it to the final, not many will bet against Real lifting a record 16th Champions League title.
