
A TEENAGE boy has tragically died in hospital after being stabbed.
The 16-year-old was discovered with knife wounds on Saturday and has since died of his injuries.
Police said the boy was found in Chippenham, Wiltshire shortly after 4pm.
He was rushed to hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for his stab wounds.
The boy’s next-of-kin has been informed of his sad passing, and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
The force said “our thoughts are with his family at this incredibly difficult time”.
It urged witnesses or anyone with more information of the incident on London Road in Chippenham to come forward.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose said: “This is a tragedy which has resulted in a young man losing his life.
“We understand the concern that this will have in the local community and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
The tragic announcement came after police confirmed they had arrested a teenager in relation to the stabbing.
A 15-year-old boy was initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He remains in police custody.
“We have arrested a teenage boy in relation to this incident and our enquiries are ongoing,” confirmed Detective Inspector Ambrose.
“It’s vitally important that we hear from anyone with information about this incident or anyone who saw what took place.”
