Parents of murdered Harvey Willgoose says school ignored ‘too many red flags’ about his killer

THE parents of a boy stabbed to death by a fellow pupil  said yesterday their school failed to act on “too many red flags” about his killer.

Khan had taken a hunting knife to All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield

On arrival, his bag was not searched despite him  previously carrying a knife, BB gun and axe.

An independent review into Harvey’s death has found “several missed opportunities” to manage risk before the stabbing.

Harvey’s mum Caroline said it showed “too many red flags”  by Khan were not acted on.

Man, 25, charged with murder after woman stabbed to death in ‘busy’ street

She said: “There’s a knife problem out there, the one place children should feel safe is school.”

Mrs Willgoose added: “I want the government to take some control from these academies because they’re a law unto themselves.

“It’s about their reputations, it’s not about child safety.”

Mr Willgoose said: “They let Harvey down.”

And dad Mark said: “If they’d done what they should  Harvey would be here now.”
