Yet another shrinkflation blow as Nescafe removes sachet from instant multipacks while keeping price the same

COFFEE fans are frothing mad after Nescafe removed a sachet from their beverages in another shrinkflation blow.

All their instant multipacks, including cappuccinos, mochas and lattes, are down from eight to seven, while the £2.35 price stays the same.

It means customers get 12 per cent less value for their money.

One coffee drinker advised online: “Your first mistake was buying a Nestle brand product.

“Switch to another brand and stop buying Nescafe.”

The shrinkflation scourge has hit all types of Nescafe’s instant drinks including cappuccinos, vanilla lattes and mochas.

CLEANING UP

Fury as UK deodorant brand cuts size of its shower gel but keeps price the SAME

We told last year how Nescafe — owned by Nestle — had cut its £7 instant coffee jars from 200g to 190g, the equivalent of six fewer cups.

Data from retail insights firm Trolley found the jars were being flogged for £4.50 in July last year — meaning they have gone up 55 per cent in a year.

A Nestle spokesman said: “Like every manufacturer, we have seen significant increases in the cost of coffee, making it much more expensive to manufacture our products.

“To maintain the same high quality and delicious taste that consumers know and love, it has sometimes been necessary to make adjustments to the weight or size of some of our products.”
