ALAN CARR and Amanda Holden have put their latest renovation up for sale – and its asking price has floored me.
Transforming a dilapidated dwelling on the Greek island of Corfu for their BBC series, Amanda And Alan’s Greek Job, has been quite the odyssey for the pair.
But Celebrity Traitors winner Alan looks set to make a killing on it with Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda, after they bought it derelict for a reported £30,000 and have now put it on the market for a princely £585,000.
The asking price for the dream bolthole in the pretty village of Kokkini is £345,000 more than what they got for their holiday-home refurbishment series’ last do-up — a Spanish townhouse that they sold for £240,000 last year.
But all profits will go to charity — Comic Relief and Children in Need.
Alan admitted the Greek house had been the “worst” refurb he and Amanda had tackled — but they didn’t let that deter them.
Laughing about how big an ask it was, Alan said: “I don’t even think it was a house!
“Even though we’re getting better at DIY, when we saw the state of it, my heart sank. But the transformation was mind-blowing.”
Amanda said: “It didn’t have stairs inside, it didn’t have windows.
“Oh yes, and there was a message in blood written on the door outside.”
But the new-look property, called Alamanda, is a treat for the eyes white retaining its original features — and comes with glorious sea views.
Amanda, who has booked to go on holiday nearby next year, added: “We’re always heartbroken when we leave a renovation project — but this was the worst one.
“I will drive past and see who bought it.”
The presenting duo, right, have proved to be dab hands at flipping houses, and have flogged four holiday homes as part of their BBC series.
They have so far worked their magic in Sicily, mainland Italy, Spain and Greece — and producers are said to be eyeing up Scandinavia as their next destination.
JULIA UP BEFORE THE BEAK
JULIA BRADBURY picked up a few penguin pals while filming her latest travel series.
The presenter will bring her trademark warmth to the ITV show, which sees her explore the icy beauty of Antarctica.
Wonders Of The Frozen South is a breathtaking new three-part documentary from producers Captive Minds that will transport viewers to the very edge of the planet.
It will see Julia explore Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands, and encounter stunning landscapes, unique communities and extraordinary wildlife – including the aforementioned colony of penguins.
Julia said: “Sailing to the Frozen South is like entering another world – one that’s beautiful, humbling and ever so powerful.
“To experience this raw, wild landscape is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and one that I can’t wait to share with viewers.”
HAIRY BIKER Si King, Great British Menu’s Tommy Banks, ITV fave James Martin and top chef Raymond Blanc join the bill for this year’s Pub In The Park festival.
The three-day event will take place at Higginson Park in Marlow, Bucks, from May 14-17. Buy tickets at pubintheparkuk.com.
HARRY’S A CHATTY PANDA
HARRY HILL has told how before being revealed as Red Panda on The Masked Singer at the weekend, he tried to fool viewers by . . . sounding like Chatty Man comic Alan Carr.
Fellow funnyman Harry said: “Because my voice is quite well known, because I’ve done You’ve Been Framed, I think a lot of people recognise my voice more than me.
“So I thought, ‘I’ve got to disguise it’ – and Alan Carr came to me in a dream.
“I know Alan. He is a great friend of mine and he is going to be horrified when he sees this.”
But guest judge Olly Murs was not one to be fooled, as he rumbled Harry.
DAN ’N’ DANI GO FOOL THROTTLE
DANNY DYER and his daughter Dani were the perfect motormouths – as they staged a comedy mobility scooter race.
Rivals star Danny and Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins winner Dani looked like they were having a right giggle in these first-look images from their new Sky series The Dyers’ Caravan Park, which sees them invest in and run a site on Kent’s Isle of Sheppey.
Why Danny needed a megaphone is anyone’s guess, as he doesn’t usually have trouble making himself heard.
Over a cuppa, they looked like they were having more laughs – doubtless thinking up more fun and games.
A RITCHIE MAN IS OUR GUY
GUY RITCHIE is proving true to his surname – after his various business ventures raked in more than £100million last year.
It was recently revealed how movie director Guy made over £20million from Netflix comedy crime series The Gentleman.
Another comedy hit, Prime Video film The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare further boosted his coffers.
Guy, who previously gave us action blockbusters Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, is certainly keeping busy behind the camera, with detective series Young Sherlock out early next month on Prime Video and Mobland 2 for Paramount+.
But films and TV are not his only interests.
He also runs a farm, a luxury hotel and shooting estate, and a brewery, and has his own line of outdoor cooking equipment and tents.
Oh, there is also his boozer, The Lore of the Land in London’s Fitzrovia, plus he is said to have plans for another pub.
So, doubtless he’ll be toasting his riches.
THE CAPTURE’S first teaser trailer for series three certainly caught my attention.
Ahead of its return this spring, Rachel Carey, played by Holliday Grainger, is determined to regain the public’s trust after she broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister.
SUSIE BIG FAT GEEK BLESSING
COUNTDOWN words whizz Susie Dent reckons its cool to be smart – like the unsung brainboxes finally revealing their hidden talents on her new show Secret Genius.
Susie teams up with co-host Alan Carr for the Channel 4 series to find people with high IQs in ordinary jobs like at factories, hair salons and supermarkets – and she can relate to how they have until now kept under the radar.
Lexicographer Susie usually found in Channel 4 gameshow Countdown’s Dictionary Corner, admits she was a school nerd and says: “I was conscious of how uncool that was – and quite a lot of our contestants [on Secret Genius] didn’t let their intelligence shine because it was uncool.”
But she adds: “ I love the way that’s changing.”
