BOOKING a trip away is the perfect antidote to the gloomy January weather.
And though jumping on a plane can be pricey, there are some tricks to help you save on flights.
Follow these tips to get yourself basking in the sun . . .
TIME IT RIGHT: Flight prices are constantly changing, based on demand and other factors. It means that choosing the right moment to book can save you hundreds of pounds.
You can get some of the best prices for flights if you snap them up as soon as they are released.
EasyJet currently allows you to book around a year in advance, up to the end of January 2027. Sign up to mailing lists to be notified when tickets are released.

Skyscanner also has a handy tool which indicates the best time to book, based on where and when you want to travel.
For example, if you want to go from London to Bangkok in June, the tool suggests the best time to buy a ticket is 11 weeks in advance.
DEAL FINDER: Booking direct with an airline is not always the cheapest option, so it is worth checking the price through comparison sites such as Skyscanner, Kayak and Momondo.
You can also set up price alerts through comparison sites so you know when costs rise or fall.
Some airlines partner with others (such as Virgin Atlantic with Delta) and sell tickets on each other’s flights.
Sometimes there is a price variation, so check if you could book the same flight for cheaper through one of the partners.
LOYALTY SAVINGS: If you are a keen Nectar points collector, you can transfer these to Avios points which can be used to get money off flights booked through British Airways. Converting 400 Nectar points becomes 250 Avios points.
If you use Uber, link your Avios account. You will earn one Avios point for every £1 spent.
Double the value of your Tesco Clubcard vouchers by turning them into Virgin points, which can again be used to discount flight costs.
