VLADIMIR Putin is showing no interest in ending his bloody invasion of Ukraine – as the Russian tyrant launched “barbaric” attacks during historic peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
Despite Volodymyr Zelensky saying trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and the US had been “constructive”, Moscow killed at least one person and left millions without power after a ferocious overnight blitz.
The Ukrainian president said following crunch talks in the UAE: “All parties agreed to report to their capitals on each aspect of the negotiations and to coordinate further steps with their leaders.”
Another round of meetings could take place as early as next week, he added.
Zelensky also said there was an “understanding of the need for American monitoring and control of the process of ending the war and ensuring real security”.
Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner represented the American delegation during the unprecedented talks.
Putin sent military intelligence and army representatives, Zelensky said.
Russia launched a huge overnight bombardment on Ukraine which left one person dead, 23 wounded and millions without power.
Targeting central heating and electricity grids, countless civilians were left without heating amid the blistering subzero cold.
Putin launched over 370 attack drones and 21 missiles of various types, Zelensky said.
The heavy assault came just hours after Ukrainian, Russian and US negotiators sat down for talks, the Kyiv Post reported.
The summit marked the first time Trump officials sat down with Ukrainian and Russian diplomats at the same time.
The UAE’s foreign ministry said the discussions were part of efforts “to promote dialogue and identify political solutions to the crisis”.
Kyiv slammed the deadly Russian strikes on Saturday, saying that the ruthless attack marked “another night of Russian terror”.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said: “Cynically, Putin ordered a brutal, massive missile strike against Ukraine right while delegations are meeting in Abu Dhabi to advance the America-led peace process.
“His missiles hit not only our people, but also the negotiation table.”
He also said: “This barbaric attack once again proves that Putin’s place is not at [Donald Trump’s] Board of Peace, but in the dock of the special tribunal.
More than 1.2 million buildings were left without power nationwide following the strikes as temperatures plummeted to -13C in the capital.
During the talks, Putin’s cronies are expected to have repeated the Russian tyrant’s brazen demand that Ukraine hand over the entire Donbas region, which Kyiv still partially controls.
Zelensky has stressed that he will not surrender the region as Russia could use it as a springboard for future assaults.
Donbas is Ukraine’s industrial heartland, and is rich in raw minerals, such as lithium, uranium, titanium and rare earths.
The US proposal for its fate is for a demilitarised and free economic zone in exchange for security guarantees for Ukraine, but Russia is unlikely to back that.
It comes after Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff flew out to Russia for a marathon meeting with the Kremlin tyrant.
The Moscow talks reportedly concluded with Putin agreeing to the next steps to help bring about an end to the war.
Zelensky was the first to announce the three-way crunch talks as he gave a passionate speech at Davos in Switzerland.
The wartime leader appeared to confess it was a last-minute idea proposed by Washington following his hour-long chat with Trump.
