LOVE Island star Tommy Bradley’s fan have defended him after fans dubbed his recoupling speech for Jess Harding “brutal”.
Tommy left Jess in tears during the recoupling as he revealed during the speech that he would rather be single than continue getting to know her – blasting the former winner for her lack of communication to him over recent days.
Now, Tommy’s family – who are running his social media – have stood up for him following backlash for the speech.
Taking to Instagram to answer questions from fans, one asked how they felt he has handled the situation with Jess.
“I think Tommy’s conducted himself in a way he can genuinely be proud of,” they began.
His family member continued: “He knows his worth, has stayed respectful throughout, and has handled the situation with a lot of maturity.”

The speech came after Jess and Tommy’s relationship appeared to stall despite forming a quick connection.
As things slowed down, Jess began focusing her attention on Charlie Frederick and even told Tommy they were at “different stages” in life due to him still living at home with his parents.
However, during the recoupling, Tommy was last to choose and Jess was the only girl standing.
Beginning his speech by saying he did want to couple up with Jess, Tommy then shocked his fellow islanders by saying: “Communication for me, is, like, so important and I know we spoke on the terrace about how we’re both feeling.
“You mentioned that we’re at different stages in life and I feel like, did it really take five days for me to find that out?”
Interjecting his speech, Jess said: “I put it to the back of my head and thought I’d give it a shot, is that not fair?
Tommy replied: “I dunno, I just think, I’d rather it be deaded off and put it to bed, and for me to be single right now than to, sort of, be parked to one side and feel like that second option.”
Following the speech, Jess left the recoupling in tears and said it was “embarrassing” for Tommy to air out their issues in front of everyone while she was stood solo.
Tommy has since apologised and shared that his intentions were never to hurt Jess.
Following Charlie being dumped from the island during yesterday’s show, neither Jess or Tommy are getting to know anyone in the villa.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
