A MAN who trapped and assaulted a woman inside a train toilet has been jailed.
Daniel Odubanjo, 27, attacked his victim on November 29, 2024, on-board a service from Shenfield to Chelmsford.
The depraved sex offender repeatedly banged on the toilet door while a woman was inside.
She unlocked the door, believing another passenger was desperate to use the facilities.
Instead, Odubanjo forced her back inside the cubicle and locked the door before sexually assaulting her.
The victim, who was 21 at the time, managed to escape and flag down a fellow passenger.
But Odubanjo again tried to drag her back into the toilet, despite her screams for help.
It was only when she claimed to be 14-years-old that Odubanjo let her go.
The woman went left the train at Chelmsford and reported the horror to British Transport Police.
However Odubanjo continued with his sick campaign of abuse and went on to target a 17-year-old girl boarding the service.
He sat opposite her and asked sexual questions before exposing himself.
The teenager managed to get away when he left to go to the bathroom.
She alerted other passengers but Odubanjo still sat next to her when he returned.
He sexually assaulted her before another traveller pulled him off the girl.
The train was met by BTP officers at Hatfield Peverel station, just outside Chelmsford, and Odubanjo was arrested at the scene.
Odubanjo, of King Avenue, Clapham, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 12 for one count of False Imprisonment and two counts of Sexual Assault after being found guilty at trial.
The defendant was sentenced to six years in prison and given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which prohibits him from being under the influence of any substance while on public transport, at stations or on Network Rail property.
BTP Detective Sergeant Hayley Whyte said: “Odubanjo preyed on a young woman and a teenage girl in terrifying attacks just minutes apart.
“Both were left distressed and traumatised by the vile assaults he subjected them to. Despite this, their courage and determination to see him brought to justice has resulted in a suitably lengthy prison sentence.
“I commend their bravery, and that of the bystanders who intervened in the second attack.
“If you experience or witness a sexual offence on-board a train or at a station, I urge you to report it to us by texting 61016, or dial 999 in an emergency. Every report is taken seriously and we will take swift action to trace sexual offenders like Odubanjo and ensure they face justice.”
