PRESIDENT Donald Trump confirmed that US special forces used a secret sonic weapon to capture dictator Nicolás Maduro – but he won’t give details of the device.
After a report claimed the sonic weapon made Venezuelan soldiers “vomit blood”, the president has said American’s should fear the weapons.
Trump said in an interview with NewsNation that Americans should fear the weapons.
Anchor Katie Pavlich asked Trump if citizens should be “afraid”.
The president replied “well yeah”, adding that only the US has these powerful sonic weapons.
Rumours of the US using sonic weapons in the Maduro capture have swirled ever since White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said a weapon had left Venezuelan troops vomiting blood and suffering nosebleeds.
Yet Trump was coy about giving away too many details about the weapon.
He said: “It’s something I don’t wanna… nobody else has it.”
The US president went on to boast about other secret weapons in his arsenal.
He said: “But we have weapons nobody else knows about.
“And, I say it’s probably good not to talk about it, but we have some amazing weapons.”
FoxNews cited a witness account from someone on the ground in Caracas the night of the US attack, who said that it felt like their “head was exploding from the inside”.
The witness detailed the attack, saying that they had “never seen anything like it”.
He wrote: “At one point, they launched something; I don’t know how to describe it.
“It was like a very intense sound wave.
“Suddenly, I felt like my head was exploding from the inside.”
The witness claimed to be one of Maduro’s personal guards.
He said after the attack: “We all started bleeding from the nose.
“Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move.
We couldn’t even stand up after that sonic weapon — or whatever it was.”
What are sonic weapons?
TRUMP was uncharacteristically guarded about sonic weapons used in Venezuela.
The secret weapons were used in the dramatic capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife.
The system could be a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), which has been used by other militaries, including the IDF.
The LRAD is a speaker which fires sound in a concentrated beam.
It can emit targeted sound at a massive volume of 160 decibels, which can cause dizziness, nausea and even hearing loss.
Yet the weapon used may have been even stronger than this, as a witness claimed to have vomited blood and been unable to stand after the attack.
Maduro and his wife were snatched from Caracas by the US military’s elite special mission unit, Delta Force, in the dramatic operation.
Multiple explosions ripped through the capital and other sites after the US launched overnight strikes using Black Hawk helicopters and Chinooks.
The captured Chavista and his wife are now locked up in New York, awaiting trial for narco-terrorism.
