THIS is the horrifying moment a father and young son are dragged along a platform after trying to jump onto a moving train.
The man, who is carrying his child in his arms, can be seen sprinting alongside a moving locomotive with another male in a risky attempt to catch the departing train.
The friend manages to board through an open door as the train picks up speed.
In a heart-stopping second, the father loses his footing and slips into the gap between the train and the platform at Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj railway station, northern India.
Still clutching his son, the pair are dragged along the platform by the hurtling Train No. 15018 Kashi Express train almost being pulled under and onto the tracks.
Railway staff notice the commotion and rush to help them as waiting passengers watch on in horror.
People on the train managed to pull the man and boy to safety within the carriages, preventing a tragic accident.
The train comes to an emergency stop just in time.
According to local reports, there were no injuries from the narrow escape.
Northern Railway once again urged passengers to prioritise safety and avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains.
In their appeal, they reminded travellers to wait for trains to halt completely and follow safety guidelines.
