Lads reveal 13 on-trend clothes that ‘give them the ick’ on women & say they ‘cannot stand to see them’

GUYS have been revealing the women’s clothing items that “give them the ick” – and they have not held back.

A social media thread on X, formerly Twitter, asked guys to list the looks they “cannot stand to see on women”, including outfits, jewellery and shoes.

The post quickly gained traction, with numerous guys piling on women’s fashion choices that they don’t really like.

Included in the list were numerous popular trends that fill our Instagram feeds on a daily basis.

The initial post was actually shared by a woman (@_Sorrengailll), who wrote: “Men, please name some clothing items you CANNOT STAND to see on women, like, gives you the instant ick.

“I’m tryna build a man repellent wardrobe.”

HUE KNEW?

Three trends that make you look cheap – a jewellery blunder’s a ‘hard no’

TIGHT FIT

I’m a millennial & here’s an outdated fashion trend you’ll never see me ditch

One of the items stated was snake skin print tops, with the person saying: “They were all the rage before COVID. They were awful.”

A second agreed that “all animal print” should be avoided.

Another person said “high waisted jeans” was on their “ick list”.

The next items shared were “halter neck dresses, see-through T-shirts” and someone added: ”Overalls are a no go.”

Leggings also came under fire, specifically wide bottomed ones that are booming in popularity for yoga.

The man wrote: “Just wear normal leggings. Not only do bell bottom leggings ruin the shape that normal leggings are supposed to complement, they just look stupid.”

Some people said they don’t like it when women wear men’s clothing, such as “baggie jeans and sneakers.”

And Ugg boots also cropped up in the replies too, along with “thigh-high socks with a skirt” – with one man adding: “I hate that so much.”

Meanwhile, men were divided on flesh-baring outfits, with one saying: “In my opinion, revealing clothes should be only meant for your special person and not for a public show.”

Some people commented on jewellery too.

One person wrote: “A simple septum piercing is enough”, while another said: “Dream catcher earrings. WITCH.”

Nicklaus shared how he liked girls wearing an oversized team letterman’s jacketCredit: instagram/emmapritchard

This follows male content creator Nicklaus Daniel previously stating the “hottest thing a girl can wear”, in his opinion.

He said he saw a woman at a sports game with a slicked back ponytail, big gold hoop earrings, a plain black top, an oversized team letterman’s jacket and Nike Air Jordan trainers.

Nicklaus shared: “She was wearing this combo, which is the lethal combo.

“She looked like a former player’s wife – she looked good. That combo right there – I don’t care who you are, you look hot.”

Women hitting back

Many women were not impressed at the comments from men trying to influence how they dress.

One said: “This is why I don’t care what men say about my outfits.”

Another added: “Thank god I don’t dress for the male gaze.”

And many women seemed unphased by the “ick list” too, and joked they would increasingly wear the clothing items listed.

One said: “Taking notes from the comment section.”

Fashion editor reveals the 90s trends that should stay in the past

NINETIES and noughties trends especially have become a hit with Gen Z – most likely because they didn’t wear them the first time round. Here, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale gives the rundown of some of the trends that have made a comeback that we wish did not.

Disc belts

“A hit with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Blake Lively, the belt itself did nothing that a belt should actually do – it was a mere fashion statement, not a piece to actually hold anything up.

“And it seems it’s not just me who is enraged by its return, with many taking to TikTok to give their views, saying: ‘Oh no not the disc belt! I don’t think I have the energy for it a 2nd time around’ – I feel you.”

Jelly shoes

“After not being seen on shelves for decades, they’ve made a reappearance and this time they’re not just for kids.

“Coming in a range of colourful patterns, you can get them all over the high street in either flat or heeled versions.

“Not only will you look very childish wearing such shoes, but people will also need to learn that they aren’t the comfiest – blister plasters will come in handy.”

Pedal pushers

“The cropped knee-grazing trouser were all the rage in the 1990s and 2000s, but this time the model fash pack are all over them – with both Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski wearing them out recently.

“The original IT girls, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot helped make the trousers – also called Capri pants – look effortlessly cool and glam.

“Somehow this time round they don’t seem to be having that same effect.”
