A COUPLE who paid £200,000 for an abandoned UK home without ever stepping foot inside were horrified by what they found when they finally got the keys.
Despite never seeing the inside, they jumped at the chance to renovate it.
Ryan Kent and Jenny Kent bought the crumbling pink property in Anglesey, north Wales, after their offer on the long-neglected house was unexpectedly accepted.
The couple took a gamble on the rundown home, which was first built in the 1970s, believing it had a “unique” character and huge potential.
Inside, they were met with mountains of rubbish, creepy surprises – and even a set of false teeth.
The sprawling 3,000sq ft property, surrounded by woodland, streams and a pond, was filled with debris after being left empty for years.
The previous owners became unwell, after which squatters moved in and left behind chaos.
As they cleared space, Ryan and Jenny uncovered piles of old newspapers, clothes, photographs, boxes and bags, along with one unforgettable find.
“The teeth were definitely the weirdest thing we found, they were the funniest and did provide the most laughs,’ Jenny said.
The house also came with another unpleasant surprise. “Ryan is terrified of spiders, and there’s some really massive cobwebs in the house,” she added.
Since taking on the project, the couple have removed tonnes of rubbish, trimmed back overgrown bushes and carved a pathway through the property, while the home itself includes four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large lounge, a living room, and an additional lounge at the back.
Jenny said the design stood out straight away. The first thought I had was that it was of a Mediterranean feel. It’s got these big arched windows, and it looks quite Spanish.
“But we were told it was built with a Roman villa inspiration.
“From walking around the outside, we could see it was big, but the indication from the auction people’s property pack didn’t say it was as big as it is.”
There is still a long road ahead, with major work needed including new plumbing, electrics, windows and roof repairs, but Jenny began sharing their renovation journey on Instagram on the very day the purchase was completed and has already attracted around 90,000 followers.
