Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid reached out to Piers Morgan live on the ITV breakfast show on Monday after he ‘rebuffed’ her offer of a hospital visit.
The TV host, who formerly presented GMB alongside Susanna, 55, was taken into hospital to undergo hip surgery after having a fall in London last week.
The broadcaster shared the news with fans on Instagram, posting two pictures; one showing him lying in a hospital bed and another displaying an X-ray of his broken hip.
He explained that he fractured the top of his femur after tripping on a small step inside a London hotel restaurant, with the injury so severe that it required a full hip replacement.
Piers, 60, is facing up to three months of restricted movement, with doctors advising against long-haul travel for at least 12 weeks as he recovers from surgery.
He penned to his social media following that he ‘tripped on a small step in a London hotel restaurant’, as he ‘blamed Donald Trump‘ for his New Year being ‘off to a cracking start’.

Piers Morgan has revealed he has been rushed to hospital after breaking his hip in a painful fall
Susanna was among the well-wishing celebrity pals who flooded the comments section, penning: ‘Nooooo!! Get fixed soon – I owe you a hug when you’re out.’
And addressing it again, Susanna went on to discuss Piers’ fall with co-stars Ed Balls and Kate Garraway during a segment about Blue Monday, which se called ‘the most miserable day of the year’.
Speaking live on GMB, she said: ‘Not a great morning for our good friend Piers Morgan, although I have to say, he is recovering well in hospital.
‘He has a new hip, so good luck with your recovery. I think he’s going to be in the hospital for a few days as he recovers.
‘There was a restaurant involved and a stumble, and a whole new hip. So get well soon, Piers. He’ll be out soon, and we hope he gets better quickly.’
Revealing she offered to visit Piers in hospital, she joked: ‘I did offer to turn up with grapes, but he says he has enough to open a vineyard, so I was rebuffed.’
Susanna and Piers presented Good Morning Britain together until his departure in 2021, after controversial remarks he made about Meghan Markle saw him walk out of the ITV programme’s studio.
Since then, Piers has gone on to present his own series, Piers Morgan Uncensored, which was launched on Talk TV and now streams on YouTube.

The TV presenter’s fall is said to have taken place inside a London hotel restaurant, with Morgan admitting he ‘fell like a sack of spuds’ after misjudging a small step.
Friends and fans flooded the comments section of the Instagram post, wishing him well and offering words of advice for his recovery.
Among them were Susanna’s fellow ITV host Lorraine Kelly, who penned: ‘You daft bugger – hope you are OK,’ while Amanda Holden joked it put Piers’ wife Celia ‘off the hook for a few weeks’.
This Morning contributor and radio host Nick Ferrari added: ‘Huge sympathy buddy. You’re no longer just “breaking” big scoops!’
While Eamonn Holmes penned: ‘Well , sincere sympathy my friend but I am the expert in this field… if you want advice or a visitor. Lucozade and Grapes!’
Piers last returned to ITV’s daytime TV last November, where he left Lorraine squirming in her seat as he furiously clashed with Dr Amir.
Bringing his signature chaos to the show, viewers claimed Lorraine looked ‘very uncomfortable’ as she ‘lost control’ of her own breakfast programme.
Piers featured as a guest on the ITV show to speak about Donald Trump, the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files and the new legal guidance on single-sex spaces.
Lorraine Kelly was left squirming in her seat as Piers Morgan and Dr Amir furiously clashed over trans rights and women’s spaces during Thursday’s show
As the programme descended into chaos, the host, 65, was drowned out as the duo continued to speak over her
A report today ruled that people in toilets can be asked if they are male or female.
Lorraine said of the news: ‘Oh that will open a can of worms.’ Piers retorted: ‘Not really, but what is a cisgender woman?’
Lorraine replied to say the definition was that of a biological woman, prompting Piers to quiz: ‘Well, why can’t we just call them that? That would solve a lot of the problem, stop giving them stupid names like cisgendered.’
Dr Amir Khan, who was also a guest, then interjected: ‘When it comes to these kind of issues, the reason this is problematic is because a lot of these people won’t be trained to ask those kinds of questions…’
Piers then jumped in, quipping: ‘I will stand outside the loos and ask the questions!’
He asked Amir which toilets he uses, and he made clear he opts for the men’s. Piers then asked why, with Amir saying that he ‘identifies as male.’
Piers corrected him: ‘No, you don’t identify as male. You are a male. You’re a man so you use the men’s and so do I.’
Lorraine tried to chip in, saying that she uses the ladies as the men’s is ‘disgusting,’ to which Piers roared: ‘And how would you feel if we both marched in there?’

Lorraine giggled as she replied: ‘Well if I was on the loo, I wouldn’t be very happy!’
Piers continued: ‘Males stay out of the women’s area and women stay out of the men’s area. It used to be so simple.’
However Dr Khan was having none of it, hitting out: ‘No that isn’t the bottom line! The reason that this is an issue is because this will actually endanger women as well.’
When Piers stressed that women are already endangered, Dr Khan asked: ‘By trans people?’
Piers emphasised that while he ‘doesn’t have a problem’ with trans people and believed that they deserve equal rights, this should never be ‘at the expense of women’s rights.’
He fumed: ‘For too long, we have pandered to this nonsense. Women are women, men are men.
‘My message to trans women is fine, if you want to identify as trans then no problem, but do not go into women’s spaces. You are a biological male.’
As the conversation spiralled, Lorraine begged the duo to wrap it up.
Elsewhere, Piers joked about ITV’s ‘savage’ cuts as he learnt that Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley had ended their programme.
As Lorraine quipped that Piers could take over from her, he mimicked: ‘Hi Kate, Hi Richard – do you miss me?’ Lorraine added: ‘They’re away, they’ve gone!’
‘Where’ve they gone?’ he exclaimed, ‘There used to be a little two-way. That’s all gone as well? Cutbacks are savage aren’t they.’
When it was announced in May that ITV was cutting 220 jobs, Lorraine called it ‘heartbreaking’.
Lorraine’s broadcast has been reduced from one hour to 30 minutes each episode and will only broadcast 30 weeks a year; the same is said for Loose Women, instead of their full year schedule.
But like the other daytime shows, This Morning’s production team will merge with those on Lorraine and Loose Women to share resources.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX
