Man City agreed a bargain £20million deal after chief Pep Guardiola prioritised bringing in a new defender following injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.

But Guehi’s move took a shock twist this morning, when the private jet flying him to Manchester Airport had to call off landing.

The Palace captain was forced to loop over the city centre and was taken straight over the Etihad Stadium after the landing was aborted at 8.42am.

Plane spotters at the airport believe a larger jet moved onto the runway unexpectedly, forcing the private jet to temporarily postpone landing.

Guehi’s private plane was understood to be very close to the ground when the decision to take emergency action was taken.

The England man was arriving in Manchester to undergo a medical ahead of joining Guardiola’s star-studded squad.

Following the drama, Guehi has started undergoing tests before his move from Palace is officially announced.
