Promoting the deal with millionaire developer Rory O’Brien’s firm Masthead, Princess Bea’s husband said: “Masthead has all the ingredients we were looking for.”

But the project on an exclusive part of Australia’s Gold Coast went bust, with the firm behind it going into administration, owing backers £10million.

The prime ocean-front apartments plot has now been fenced off and signs are up saying “Mortgagee in Possession”.

Sources said Mozzi’s Banda company had been appointed by the developer to provide interior design services for the 37-storey tower on the Pacific Ocean in 2022.
