Rob first appeared on screens as Sean back in 2006, with this year marking 20 years since his character’s debut on the show.

The milestone anniversary year for his character may provide the perfect reason for him to return to Walford.

So far, there’s no official word around Rob’s potential return to the BBC soap.

The rumours come as Stacey Slater star Lacey Turner continues her extended break from the show – to focus on family and other projects.

The Sun previously revealed news of her departure from the show, after playing her iconic character for over 21 years.

Speaking ahead of news of her temporary departure, she said: “I think as any working person, you weigh up your options and I do what is best for us really.

“That may change as they change, as they grow. If something doesn’t work, then you change it.

“I personally do my best and we do our best and that works.

“I really love my job, I will always do.

“As you get older you get a bit braver and a bit bolder and I’m at an age now where I will do what is right for us.”
