A WOMAN who has been working for Amazon Flex has revealed the ins and outs of the job – including how much she makes per shift.
Maddie and her husband have been doing the shifts together, and always choose one that’s “worth leaving the house for”.
“So £66, I think it was a four hour block, but between the two of us it took about less than two hours,” she said in a video on her TikTok page.
She then documented the process of picking up the packages, as well as delivering them.
“You drive up, you get a crate, you get around 40 packages, you scan the crate, scan the packages and basically you’re on your way,” Maddie said.
Luckily, all the houses they had to deliver to were “pretty close by” and a maximum of 15 minutes from the depot.
“It was actually a fantastic route,” she grinned.
Working together, Maddie’s husband found the Amazon packages for her, while she then ran out, delivered the parcel and picked up the next.
And their “great teamwork” meant they were able to do the whole route in two hours – earning an impressive £33 per hour.
“I definitely recommend for £66, two hours – great stuff.”
Maddie also encouraged people to ask her questions about the job, with one asking: “How much is the insurance extra?”
“It’s like £1.45 an hour,” Maddie replied.
“How does this work for you paying tax?” another questioned.
“Self employment as long as it’s kept in the tax free threshold of £12,570,” Maddie said.
“We don’t use this as our main income – we literally just do it once every blue moon when we are free to spend on a date night.
“So it never really goes above the tax free threshold.”
She added that she does it a maximum of four to eight times a month, as she’s kept busy with her two kids too.
“Are the parcels sorted or do you have to number them?” a third asked.
What is retail arbitrage and how does it work?
Retail arbitrage just means reselling a product on for profit.
It is completely legal in the UK, as, once you own an item, you have the right to resell it.
Using an app called BuyBotGo, resellers scan items they find in the supermarket, and the app tells them how much the products are selling for on Amazon, and how many times they have been sold in the past month.
The reseller will make a profit on the items by reselling them using Amazon FBA.
Amazon FBA is a service that online sellers can use, where Amazon takes care of the storing, packing and shipping of your products.
So all the reseller has to do is send the products off to Amazon and wait for the money to roll in.
With Maddie responding: “All parcels are sorted and numbered, you just have to sort it out in the car well enough to see the numbers.”
“How do you sign up?” someone else asked.
“You download the Amazon Flex App and follow the instructions,” Maddie said.
“You might have to be on the waiting list as I signed up Christmas time where they needed a lot of delivery drivers.”
“Me and my wife do this too,” another remarked.
“I sort the car and drive and she runs them to the door. Week before Christmas £550 was a great help.”
There are some downsides to the job though – namely getting a “long and spacious route where packages are either in a city centre or far apart”.
Despite that, Maddie – who started doing the shifts back in 2018 – said she’d definitely recommend it as “an additional job to pay for date nights and small bits”.
