ED Balls appeared to “malfunction” on today’s Good Morning Britain.
Former politician Ed, 58, was hosting today’s show alongside Susanna Reid when he suddenly froze.
The host appeared to completely shut down when it was his turn to read out the time.
It appeared that Ed’s autocue, which he was reading from, had stopped working.
Sensing his panic, his co-host Susanna quickly swooped in.
She read out the time and then immediately cut to a break.
Ex-Labour politician Ed has been a popular presenter on Good Morning Britain after joining the show almost three years ago.
Since then he has been working as a permanent rotating presenter alongside Susanna on the ITV breakfast show.
Before that Ed served as Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2011 to 2015 under Ed Milliband as Leader of the Opposition.
He lost his seat to the Conservative Party‘s Andrea Jenkyns in the 2015 election and went on to star on Strictly Come Dancing.
Ed has been married to the UK’s Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, who serves in Sir Keir Starmer‘s government, since 1998.
He came under fire last year after interviewing his own wife on the breakfast show.
ITV‘s chief executive defended the interview, but said it would not happen again after more than 16,000 complaints were made to Ofcom.
Meanwhile, Ed’s moment on today’s Good Morning Britain comes just days after Ranvir Singh, 48, also suffered a faux pas live on air.
It came when her shirt suddenly burst open whilst she was hosting last Friday’s show.
The TV host was just getting ready to read the autocue after the break when the cheeky moment happened.
It all happened when Ranvir was about to introduce entertainment host Richard Arnold.
However, just as she spoke she said: “Oh my button has popped undone!”
To which co-host Kate Garraway cheekily said: “Oh hello!”
This caused Ranvir to quickly try to do it back up again before she was exposed to the nation.
