The American company – part of Qualcomm – creates system chips to run Android smartphones and tablets plus many Windows laptops.

They replaced TeamViewer at the start of the 2024-25 season.

The contract is worth £180million across three years.

But United and Snapdragon added a specific deal for the current campaign.

And that was so that the logo of Microsoft’s new laptop range, the Copilot+PC, also appeared on the famous United shirt, seen by millions around the world.

The details of the agreement, though, have left United red-faced.

The Copilot+PC logo appeared on the back of the men’s first-team shirts for competitive matches in all domestic cup matches this season.

However, that proved to be just the minimum of two games.

United lost at the first hurdle of the Carabao Cup in the embarrassing exit to Grimsby back in August.

Ruben Amorim’s flops were held to a 2-2 draw before losing 12-11 in a tense, dramatic penalty shootout.

Then in the FA Cup third round, again United’s opening game in the competition, they were dumped out.

Caretaker boss Darren Fletcher’s side lost 2-1 at home to Brighton – with ex-Red Devils star Danny Welbeck grabbing the winner.

It is the first time the Red Devils have lost their first match in both domestic cups since 1981-82.

And it means the Copilot+PC logo came out just twice out of a possible 13 times.

It is, though, being used by the women’s and academy teams throughout the season.

Snapdragon’s sponsorship does not cover the training kit – which is without a sponsor, forcing United to miss out on millions of pounds.

They are, however, reportedly interested in securing the naming rights for the stadium which could see the Theatre of Dreams officially called Old Trafford@Snapdragon.
