A JEWISH Labour MP was blocked from visiting a school in his own patch after pressure from pro-Palestinian activists.
Damien Egan had been due to visit Bristol Brunel Academy but the visit was cancelled after an intervention by the Bristol branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
The group was reportedly assisted by leftie members of the National Education Union.
Communities Secretary Steve Reed described the decision as “an absolute outrage”.
He told the Jewish Labour Movement conference on Sunday: “I have a colleague who is Jewish, who has been banned from visiting a school and refused permission to visit a school in his own constituency, in case his presence inflames the teachers.
“That is an absolute outrage.”
Mr Reed added that those responsible “will be called in, and they will be held to account for doing that, because you cannot have people with those kinds of attitudes teaching our children”.
The Cabinet Minister was speaking at about the surge in antisemitism faced by Britain’s Jewish community since the October 7 Hamas terror attacks in Israel.
The Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign celebrated the cancellation back in September, describing the ban on social media as a “a win for safeguarding”.
The group claimed politicians who support Israel were “not welcome” in schools.
They accused Mr Egan, a vice-chair of Labour Friends of Israel and MP for Bristol North East, of backing Israel’s actions in Gaza.
