ACTOR Paul Mescal led the stars letting their hair down at the Golden Globes — where Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another won four gongs.
Irishman Paul celebrated backstage with Hamnet co-star Jessie Buckley, who won a Best Actress award for her role in the film.
It also picked up the gong for Best Picture — Drama, for its depiction of William Shakespeare and wife Agnes coping with the death of their son.
An onlooker who saw Paul, 29, with 36-year-old Jessie in the backstage winner’s room at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles said: “Paul kept hold of Jessie while they were on stage and looked as though he’d had a few to drink.
“He was in great spirits and was grinning from ear to ear. There was so much free booze on offer. No one could blame him for getting stuck in.”
Paul and Jessie were also seen having a picture taken with co-star Jacobi Jupe, 12, who plays the title character.

Elsewhere, rapper Snoop Dogg was among the badly behaved celebs at the ceremony.
The 54-year-old had gone on stage to present the inaugural Podcast award to Good Hang With Amy Poehler.
But Snoop, known for his love of smoking cannabis, told the audience: “I’m high as a motherf***er right now. Y’all had me here too damn long.”
The comments were censored by US broadcaster CBS.
Meanwhile, at one of the boozy afterparties, Adolescence star Stephen Graham, 52, was seen tearing up the dancefloor with his wife and show producer Hannah Walters.
The show was Netflix’s big winner, with Best Actor and Actress in a Limited Series for Stephen and Erin Doherty, Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for 16-year-old Owen Cooper, and the Best Limited Series award.
The awards were hosted by comic Nikki Glaser, who had many of the stars squirming in their seats.
Among her targets was Sean Penn, who appeared alongside DiCaprio in One Battle After Another, which won Best Picture — Musical or Comedy.
She compared Penn to a “leather handbag”.
George Clooney was also targeted because of his appearances in coffee ads,
Nikki said: “George, I’m such a fan. I’ve always wanted to ask you this question. My Nespresso has been coming out kind of watery, and I’m wondering, is it like a pod issue, or do you think it might be the filter?”
She also took aim at DiCaprio, 51, for dating younger women.
Nikki said: “What a career Leonardo DiCaprio has had. Countless iconic performances, you’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes and an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all that before your girlfriend turned 30.”
