A FOOTBALL fan was shown a red card by the referee in unbelievable scenes in Scotland.

Edinburgh City hosted Stirling Albion on Saturday at Meadowbank Stadium in the Scottish League Two.

And it was in the 86th minute when Stirling made it 3-1 that the most bizarre incident took place.

A fan was being disruptive in the stands and that led to the referee intervening.

The rowdy spectator ended up seeing a red card from the ref and left fans watching from home in absolute shock as they took to social media.

Many took the opportunity to crack a few jokes as they witnessed that unusual situation.

Stirling went on to pick up a major 4-1 victory in Edinburgh to move to sixth place in the table.

The hosts opened the scoring three minutes before half-time with Ousman See and went back to the dressing room with the lead.

However, the visitors rallied back with a hat-trick by Russell McLean, who netted his first in the 71st minute.

Ross Cunningham also got on the scoreboard for Alan Maybury’s side on 81 minutes.
