VLADIMIR Putin has launched a terrifying nuclear-capable missile at Ukraine in Russia’s latest savage bombardment.

At least four people have been left dead and 19 injured following overnight strikes across the country – with the dreaded 8000mph Oreshnik missile targeting Lviv.

The sinister weapon is believed to have been aiming for Europe’s largest underground gas storage facility in Stryi.

And the missile struck just 40 miles from Nato member Poland in western Ukraine.

Massive attacks were also reported in Kryvyi Rih, Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown.

The Oreshnik was fired from Astrakhan region, deep inside Russia, and took less than 15 minutes to explode over Lviv.

Moscow launched 242 drones and 36 missiles in the assault, including the horrifying nuclear-capable weapon.

The missile’s extraordinary speed has fuelled speculation online that Russia used an Oreshnik-type ballistic weapon.

But Moscow later admitted it was in fact an Oreshnik – claiming it was in response to a Ukrainian bid to kill Putin with a strike on his palace at Valdai in Novgorod region.

Ukrainian and Western intelligence say that no such attack on the Russian tyrant’s palace ever took place.

The Kremlin said: “The Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike using long-range, land- and sea-based precision weapons, including the Oreshnik medium-range ground-mobile missile system, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), against critical targets in Ukraine.”

Russia repeatedly struck Kyiv during the long and hellish night of deadly attacks, killing four in the capital.

Ukrainian air defence systems downed 226 drones and 18 missiles, according to Kyiv.

Dozens of Ukrainians were maimed and injured following the latest drone and missile salvo.

In Kryvyi Rih, one residential property was “simply cut in half” by a ballistic missile attack.
