EBANIE BRIDGES will not walk away from boxing despite suffering a defeat in her first fight in two years.
The former IBF bantamweight champion took time out to start a family with fellow former world champion Kell Brook and they welcomed their son Ezerra Ray in March 2025.
Bridges made her debut for Jake Paul‘s Most Valuable Promotions on January 3 but she lost a wide unanimous decision to Alexis Araiza Mones.
Five days later, Bridges took to social media to discuss her future.
She said: “Well, they do say ‘if you try, you may fail, but if you don’t try, you are guaranteed failure’.
“I might not have gotten the ‘W’, but I said I’d get back in the ring in the first year after giving birth and that, for me, was an achievement in itself.
“It was a tough fight to come back to after 2 years out and a baby. Alexis likes to bring it and we had a war. It was fun, it was a high pace, competitive fight, but in the end she showed her skills and was the faster, sharper and busier boxer on the night.
“I congratulate her and her team and I wish her great success in her career.”
While Bridges was fighting an opponent in the ring, she was also fighting her own body.
The Aussie wanted to prove she could fight again just 10 months after giving birth and in that respect, she succeeded.

“I was determined to prove having a baby doesn’t mean you have to retire/quit/stop the things you love, or give up on your own goals and dreams. As many women get told this. Hopefully, I still did this, to some degree.
“I tried, I might not have got my hand raised, but at least I tried. I wanted to inspire mums, I wanted to make my son, Ezerra, proud, and I wanted to prove to myself I could do it.
“The camp was beyond hard, emotionally and physically. Getting back to fitness after a horrible pregnancy and a C-section was definitely not easy, I felt like quitting many times in camp and to just chill with my son, but I couldn’t, I’m not a quitter, I don’t quit when things get hard, if you do that, you will never succeed.
“Now I’ve got that one out of the way (thank f**k), I want to get straight back in, after spending some time with my son and Kell Brook.”
Bridges will certainly have options if she wants to keep fighting given her profile in the sport and social following.
Brook is also reportedly getting back in the ring.
The 39-year-old could be set to face former Geordie Shore star turned Bare Knuckle fighter Aaron Chalmers.
The Newcastle-native posted on social media claiming that the fight is on.
