But the player shocked viewers and stunned host Jeremy with his answer, which saw him booted from the hot seat within minutes of appearing on the game show.

In the opening minutes of the spin-off, Nabeel became the night’s first contestant to battle it out for £1million.

Hopes began high for the player, who got his first two questions correct as he kicked off his challenge for the seven-figure prize.

But as Jeremy revealed the third question, a simple GCSE French translation, Nabeel fumbled what appeared to be an easy win. .

The Sun takes on Jeremy Clarkson’s new Millionaire Hot Seat – with a big twist

As he sat in the hot seat, Jeremy asked: “The French phrase ‘vendredi soir’ translates into English as what?”

Nabeel took mere seconds to ponder the question before revealing to Jeremy that he would be using his pass option.

Jeremy appeared to be amused by Nabeel’s omission, as he joked: “Not a big French speaker are you”.

Nabeel agreed, before taking a seat at the back of the queue to wait for another shot at the top prize.

But the player may have got the answer if he gave the question a punt.

The correct answer, which was not revealed on the show, is actually Friday evening.

Days of the week are part of the GCSE French curriculum, which is typically taught in Year Nine of secondary school.

It comes as Jeremy, The Sun columnist and Clarkson’s Farm legend, launched the revamped Millionaire Hot Seat – the toughest version of the show EVER.

The tense, faster-paced new format sees a group of players answering questions, one by one, in a seat opposite Jeremy – against the clock, without any lifelines.

If they get the answer wrong, they lose control and play is handed to the next contestant in the queue.

And the ITV series seemed to be an instant hit with viewers, receiving praise on social media.

One fan write: “It’s kinda like a quiz show version of speed dating.”

Another declared: “#millionairehotseat quite like the format tbf.”
