Teenage girl ‘fell out back of ambulance’ onto motorway as she was being rushed to hospital

A teenage girl ‘fell out of the back of an ambulance’ onto the motorway while she was being rushed to the hospital.

A slip road onto the M6 in Lancashire was closed on Tuesday evening, causing huge delays after the incident.

Following the fall, the girl was taken to the hospital but it is understood that she did not suffer any serious injuries.

The road was closed for almost two hours while emergency services dealt with the incident at junction 32 where the M6 southbound links to the M55.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: ‘At 5.17pm on Tuesday January 6, we received a report that a teenage girl had fallen from the back of an ambulance on the M6 southbound to M55 slip road.

‘She has been taken to hospital but is thankfully not thought to have suffered any serious injuries.

‘The motorway was closed for a short period and has now fully reopened.’

The force first reported they were called to a road traffic collision and told drivers the motorway would be ‘closed for some time’.

They added that drivers should ‘look for an alternative route’ due to the disruption caused by the closure.

The Daily Mail has approached the North West Ambulance Service for comment.
