Not only this, but Ella then showed off her “drop toilet”, which has walls made of tin.

She said: “The train has no indoor toilet, only one outdoor toilet.

“I’ll make a separate video detailing how a drop toilet works in case you’ve never used one – I have no problem using it.”

When it comes to the train itself, it features the original doors that were built in the 1970s.

Inside, there’s a front bedroom, which has a panelled wall and a double bed.

Following on from this, there’s a large kitchen space with a spacious fridge and wood worktops, which according to Ella, offer a “raw, rustic look.”

Ella’s train even has a “massive” dining table and a living room featuring an “insane” fireplace, sofa and TV.

Her home also has air conditioning and as she continued the tour, the influencer showed off the train’s second bedroom space.

Ella explained: “I have a massive set of drawers, a beautiful mirror, my jewellery, and then, this is my bed at the very end of the train.”

Social media users react

Ella’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ellaajaee, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly gone viral and racked up 7.3 million views.

Social media users were gobsmacked by Ella’s unique home and many eagerly raced to the comments to express this.

The rise of tiny homes

By Jonathan Rolande

Property expert Jonathan Rolande told Fabulous: The reason we are seeing more creative ways of finding a home: super-high property prices and rents. Younger people are remaining in the family home later in life to avoid paying high prices and to save for a deposit. With increasingly busy lives, staying within a larger family group makes sense, chores such as gardening and housework can be shared.

Garages are rarely used for their intended purpose as cars are far more reliable and less prone to rust and so are perfectly happy outside. On the other hand, the amount of property space per person has been shrinking – converting a garage can make great sense.

Things to consider. (the boring stuff)

Usually easier than building from scratch but still a lot to do to turn a garage in to a habitable space.

You’ll need to check if you need planning (more likely to be required if the garage is detached).

Building Regulations stipulate many things to make homes safe and secure. Consider

Walls, are they cavity?

Roof height

Windows

How will you get plumbing, electrics and drainage connected

Insulation – it will be cold!

Fire safety

Damp proofing

Also consider if, by converting, you are adding or deducting value from the main home. Garages can add value in busy urban areas where parking is limited.

One user gushed: “I’ve never been more jealous in my life, oh my goodness.”

A second wrote: “This is soo cuteee.”

Whilst another gasped: “Looks amazing.”

But at the same time, many shared the same complaint about the outside of Ella’s train home

Middle of forest? Australia? SPIDERS?

TikTok user

One person said: “As an Aussie how are you not scared of snakes and spiders making a home out of your shoes or bags?”

Another added: “I’d rethink the shoe situation, snakes and spiders will hide in them.”

A third commented: “All I can think of is spiders and snakes in the shoes.”

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in and asked: “Middle of forest? Australia? SPIDERS?”
