WINTER is a good time to think about pruning.
Its the perfect time to cut back deciduous fruit trees like apples, pears and berries, and roses.

Also grapevines, and large deciduous shrubs like Wisteria and Forsythia could do with a prune – which will encourage vigorous spring growth and manage size.
Make sure you never take off more than a third of apple trees and remember the 3 D’s – dead, diseased and damaged.
The aim is also to allow air to flow through the trees – so remove branches that are growing in the wrong direction or rubbing up against each other.
And Stiga has the perfect tool for you.
The combined SP 100e kit – a battery powered cordless pruner and saw can help you with so many of your pruning tasks.
Both tools are designed for extended, effortless operation.
And the SC 100e Kit pruning shears can cut through over 2000 branches on a single charge, while the PR 100e Kit pruning saw can handle up to 120 branches per charge.
I’ve used both of them for Winter in my garden and allotment – and the pruner in particular takes all the strain for you.
