A SAVVY mother has shared a simple hack that will banish condensation from your windows in an instant.
So if you can’t stand waking up to soaking wet windows, you’ve come to the right place and won’t want to miss this.
Luckily for you, a self-proclaimed “mummy who loves to clean” has shared an easy and effective trick she swears by that’ll enable you to wave goodbye to condensation with barely any effort involved.
And don’t worry, with this purse-friendly method, you won’t need to splash too much cash and probably already have the must-have kitchen items in your cupboard.
Posting on social media, Lily, a content creator from the UK, shared a how-to-guide for those struggling with condensation in their homes.
She said: “The last video went viral of me showing you guys how to keep condensation out of your home – so I’m here to do a step-by-step on what I like to do.”

For the first step to “keep condensation away”, you’ll need to grab yourself a microfiber cloth, as Lily shared: “Firstly, what you’re gonna do is wipe away all that condensation using a dry cloth.”
Following this, you’ll then have to follow Lily’s “buffed” trick, as she continued: “Next step, get yourself another microfiber cloth, put a little dab of Fairy Liquid on it – get it buffed into those windows – you’ll wake up to no condensation the next day.”
If you’ve run out of Fairy Liquid, you can nab some for just 94p from Asda.
But if your purse is feeling tighter than ever before, you’re sure to be pleased to know that you’ll find even cheaper washing-up liquids from Aldi for 62p and Sainsbury’s for 70p – and they’ll work equally as well.
Not only this, but Lily also swore by using disposable dehumidifiers, which she recognised as crucial for those wanting dry windows.
If you haven’t got a disposable dehumidifier, you’ll find plenty of options on Amazon, with Dry Bag Portable Dehumidifiers from just £5.52.
Finally, despite winter temperatures, you’ll need to stop keeping your windows shut if you want to avoid condensation.
Eager to help others keep their windows dry, Lily advised: “And also, guys, get those windows open – rain or shine.”
Social media users react
Lily’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @cleanwithlilyx, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 243,200 views.
Social media users were thankful for Lily’s cheap hack and many eager raced to the comments to express this.
What is condensation?
Condensation is water droplets that form on a window when moist air comes into contact with a cold surface.
Condensation occurs when:
Air cools
Warmer air can hold more moisture than cooler air. When moist air touches a cold surface, like a window, the water vapour in the air turns into liquid water droplets.
Windows are colder than walls
Windows are often colder than insulated walls, so condensation is more likely to occur on them.
Windows are poorly insulated
Poorly insulated windows can lead to condensation, especially if they are made of aluminium, which conducts heat quickly. If left untreated, it can lead to mould and other serious problems.
One person said: “A fab hack.”
Another added: “Love your hacks.”
