THE World Darts Championship is heading for a thrilling climax with the quarter-finals up NEXT.

Luke Littler‘s title defence is still going strong as he looks to become the first player to go back-to-back since Gary Anderson in 2015 and 2016.

The Nuke booked his spot in the last eight with a thrilling 4-2 win over 2018 Ally Pally king Rob Cross on Monday night.

Littler will bring in the New Year in London for the third year running as he prepares for his quarter-final clash against Krzysztof Ratajski.

Luke Humphries is still in the hunt to regain the Sid Waddell Trophy from the world No1, but three-time world champ Michael van Gerwen is out of the tournament.

Action returns to Ally Pally on Thursday, January 1, 2026, with no matches scheduled for New Year’s Eve.

Why is the World Darts Championship not on today?

The tournament organisers implemented four break days into the World Darts Championship schedule.

There was no action at Alexandra Palace on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

Play resumed on December 27 but will pause once again on New Year’s Eve.

The darts returns on New Year’s Day for the quarter-finals and will be on every day until the final on Saturday, January 3.
