I couldn’t find a last-minute New Year’s Eve outfit but a £2 Claire’s buy came to the rescue & transformed my LBD

WITH so many things to sort out – from presents to decorations and letters to Santa – choosing what to wear on NYE has slipped down the priority list for most of us.

But if you haven’t managed to find anything worth buying in the post-Christmas sales, fear not – as one savvy fashionista has come to the rescue.

Mum Shannon Jade revealed a nifty trick that will make any basic outfit fit for NYE celebrations – and it’ll cost you just £2 thanks to shopping on Amazon.

The best part? Not only will it save you a fortune by not spending money on a new look but the hack also takes just seconds.

According to Shannon, who posts under the username @shannonjadexoxo, you can quickly transform your little black dress using nothing but a glitter spray.

Fashionistas warn over a mistake to be aware of if you got a new coat this Xmas

The popular retailer is set to shut 145 stores, after Claire’s UK administration began on August 13, shortly after its US arm filed for bankruptcy on August 7.

If your local branch has been affected by this, you can find affordable alternatives elsewhere, such as Amazon, ASOS and Boots.

Currently, the online marketplace Amazon offers the cheapest glitter spray – Sibel Glitter Hair Colour Spray in Silver slashed to just £2.26.

According to online shoppers, this bargain find is great if you want to shine “like a disco ball” – and you can wash it out with regular shampoo if used on hair.

The 4.3-star Amazon buy is a must for “for creating party looks, fancy dress, theatrical looks and for all drag queens out there”, reads the description.

“It can be used on the body, props and/or scenery, card making.”

One person said: “Absolutely love this – spray once and you, the bathroom, the dog, the car and everything in a 10 mile radius shines like a disco ball.”

Another shared how they transformed their wardrobe, writing: “I didn’t want it for my hair, I made a black top glittery with this, it’s great stuff totally recommend.”

“Comes out and shines very nicely and evenly, be careful not to get it anywhere else other than where you want it or you’ll be seeing glitter for days,” someone else warned.

Raving over the cheap DIY outfit, mum Shannon said: “When you couldn’t find a last-minute glittery dress for New Year’s Eve, Claire’s glittery spray to the rescue.”

Uploaded just a day ago, the genius hack has taken the internet by storm, racking up more than 30k views, with one person commenting: “Now that’s actually a good idea.”

Why Primark is great for looking expensive on a budget

By Clemmie Feildsend, Fabulous Fashion Editor

AS someone who’s no stranger to grabbing a last-minute outfit from Primark for a night out, it’s about time that celebrities started catching on too.

For as long as I’ve been heading out, Primark has been my go-to for those “I have nothing to wear” moments, rushing in at the last minute to find something perfect.

And I’m definitely not alone – on any Friday or Saturday night, you’ll find plenty of shoppers doing the same thing, right before closing time.

But no matter what, Primark always delivers.

Now, Rita Ora is leading the charge, showing that you can snag a designer-worthy look without spending a fortune at high-end stores.

While Rita’s not rushing in last minute for a red carpet outfit, she’s proving you can achieve the same high-impact style for much less.

Looking stunning in her tailored suit alongside her mum Vera, Rita fit right in among the other A-listers dripping in Prada, Dior, and Victoria Beckham – if anything, she looked even better than some of the guests at The Fashion Awards.

With Myleene Klass and Roxy Horner already jumping on the Primark bandwagon, I’m sure more stars will be following suit soon enough.

Why you should be careful with glitter this season

But as we’re preparing for the NYE celebrations, two expert have revealed what’s really safe to wear close to your eyes.

“It’s important to remember that anything around the eyes will always end up in the eye. We see this all the time in the clinic, eyeshadow and mascara routinely floating within the tears under our high-powered microscopes,” warned optometrist Dr Melanie Denton Dombrowski.

According to the expert, glitter and sparkle will end up in the eye if they are placed too near it – and this can lead to problems, such as a mild irritation or even major irritation via a corneal scratch.

Unfortunately, if you have sensitive eyes or wear contact lenses, Dr Denton Dombrowski said glitter products are an absolute no-no, The Standard reported.

When it comes to mascara, particularly the sparkly kind, avoid the temptation to get the product all the way down to the root of your eyelashes, fellow optometrist Dr Alexa Hecht urged.
