BBC confirms Claudia Winkleman’s new celebrity chat show with ‘the biggest names in showbiz’ hitting screens next year – but what does it mean for Graham Norton?

Claudia Winkleman has landed herself a new celebrity chat show after her shock departure from Strictly Come Dancing. 

The 53-year-old and co-star Tess Daly, 56, who presented the show together from 2014, announced that they were quitting the dance competition in October. 

Fans will be over the moon to know that she’ll be back on our screens in Spring 2026 to host The Claudia Winkleman Show on BBC One. 

It will see The Traitors legend interview some of ‘the biggest names from the worlds of film, television, music and beyond’ with a live audience. 

The programme will be produced by the production company behind The Graham Norton Show.

Speaking about her new gig, Claudia said: ‘I can’t quite believe it and I’m incredibly grateful to the BBC for this amazing opportunity.

‘I’m obviously going to be awful, that goes without saying, but I’m over the moon they’re letting me try.’

Head of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC, Kalpna Patel-Knight, said: ‘Claudia is a true national treasure – warm, witty and endlessly entertaining. 

‘She has an extraordinary ability to put people at ease and bring out the very best in them, whether they’re global superstars or members of the audience.

‘It’s very exciting that she will be fronting her very own show on the BBC, and we can’t wait for viewers to join Claudia and her sofa full of stars.’

Managing Director of So Television and Executive Producer, Graham Stuart, added: ‘Graham Norton has made the Friday night talk show slot a dazzling appointment to view. 

‘How can you possibly follow that? 

‘By booking a host equally as brilliant. So we have.’

Claudia and Tess shared an emotional embrace as they presented from the Strictly dancefloor for a final time. 

The longstanding hosts hung up their dancing shoes after presenting the show’s hotly anticipated Christmas special, while was filmed before their emotional farewell in Saturday’s final.

The dancing extravaganza saw a new group of celebrity groups put themselves to the test with a fast-tracked Strictly experience in a bid to be crowned the Christmas special winner

Dressed in festive white and cream outfits, Tess and Claudia shared an emotional hug and dance while the celebrity contestants applauded them for their work on the show.

Bringing the show to a close, Tess told viewers: ‘Thank you again for watching us over the years, it has truly meant the world to us.’

Scarlett Moffatt was crowned winner of the Christmas special.

The duo took to Instagram to break the news to fans that they were leaving in October. 

Speaking to the camera, Claudia began: ‘There have been some rumblings and we want you to hear this from us.’

 Tess chimed in: ‘We have news, after 21 wonderfully joyful years on Strictly, we have decided that the time is right to step aside and pass over the baton.’

‘The very sparkly baton!’ Claudia laughed, before turning to her co-star and pal to add: ‘You’ve been here since the beginning.’ 

Tess replied, pointing to Claudia: ‘With Bruce, lovely Bruce [Forsyth], and that was over two decades ago but a lot of the time has been with you. 

‘It’s been a huge part of our lives since our children were literally babes in arms, and now they’re adults, and I think genuinely we have cherished every second.’
