AFTER months of speculation, Quality Street has finally revealed it’s mystery flavour – and for many it’s not what they were expecting.
The new sweet, wrapped in a shiny green packaging, has been available exclusively at John Lewis and Waitrose stores nationwide in the famous pick and mix tins.
This year, shoppers could create their own unique tins using the new mystery flavour, the returning ‘Coffee Creme’, or any of the other Quality Street chocolates.
The mystery festive chocolate joined Quality Street’s 11 classic flavours such as ‘The Green Triangle’, ‘The Purple One’, and ‘Toffee Penny’.
Due to its green packaging, many customers speculated that it would be a citrus flavour like lemon or lime.
Others thought, considering the popularity of pistachio-flavoured chocolate in the last few years, perhaps the mystery choc would be nut-related.
Lemon curd was also thrown into the mix of potential flavours, but the confectionary company has revealed the mystery chocolate is in fact pineapple.
Named ‘Pineapple Creme’, the new limited edition Quality Street sweet is made of a smooth pineapple-flavoured cream covered in chocolate.
Rachael Mundy, Marketing Manager for Gifting & Seasonal at Nestlé Confectionery UK & Ireland, said: “Each year we look forward to bringing a limited edition sweet into the mix to excite and delight Quality Street fans, but this year we took it a step further by keeping the flavour top secret.
“It’s been so fun hearing everyone’s guesses, and the team is relieved to finally be able to shout about the mysterious Pineapple Creme.”
Following the news, customers have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the chocolatey revelation.
One said: “The green wrapper tried to fool my brain to say lime but I came up with pineapple.”
Another added: “Loved the pineapple, best flavour you’ve done.”
Others weren’t so convinced: “I hate pineapple and was lucky enough to try this flavour in John Lewis and I didn’t like it.”
