The violent spot of in-flight chaos happened during cabin service, and left multiple passengers injured.

After regaining control, the pilot declared a general emergency and turned the flight around.

The plane returned to Birmingham Airport just one hour and 30 minutes after it departed.

AirLive reported the aircraft was parked and met with emergency services on a remote stand at the airport.

The extent of passenger injuries remains unclear.

A spokesperson from Ryanair said the aircraft landed safely upon its return.

“FR1121 from Birmingham to Tenerife on 28th December returned to Birmingham Airport shortly after take-off due to air turbulence,” she told The Sun.

“The aircraft landed normally before passengers disembarked and returned to the terminal, where a small number of passengers were provided with medical assistance.

“This flight continued to Tenerife at 21:06 local.”

This comes as regions of Spain continue to get slammed by wild weather.

Many parts of Malaga, including the Costa del Sol resort of Marbella, were put on red alert on Saturday night, with the region battered by heavy rain.

Parts of Valencia remain under the alert on Sunday, after torrential rain and hail further smash the region.

The body of a missing man was also found near Costa Del Sol, as cops continue to search for a second man.

Investigators confirmed the grim discovery just after 5pm on Sunday, several hours after the badly-damaged van the duo had been travelling in was located.

An alert was sounded after the two men – aged 54 and 53 – from the town of Alhaurin el Grande were unaccounted for.

Authorities believe the missing men were trying to cross the swollen Fahala River on foot after heavy flooding made it impossible to continue the journey in their vehicle.

The search for the other missing man remains ongoing, as tourists and residents are urged to remain inside as the storms rage on.

The holiday resort of Marbella has been one of the worst-hit areas by Saturday’s flooding on the Costa del Sol, with several parts of the coastal town left under knee-deep water, as roads were turned into rivers.
