MEGAN McKenna has finally opened up about the real reason she decided to ditch her “humungous” pout.
The 33-year-old is more well known these days for her skills in the kitchen and sharing snippets of her life as a first-time mum on her social media pages.
But when she first made a name for herself as a reality star, Megan found it was her love of filler that proved to be a real talking point – and not in a good way.
She was on the Not My Bagg podcast when host Joe Baggs asked her about the reason she’d ditched Botox.
Megan explained that she’d been forced to due to being pregnant and then breastfeeding now one-year-old son Landon, but decided to cover up any annoying wrinkles by getting a fringe.
And while she admitted she did have a “little bit of Botox” pre motherhood, Joe praised her new “fresh” look – which prompted Megan to discuss her formerly full of filler lips.
“You do know I had like a whole rebrand of my lips, right?” she said.
“Cause I used to have humongous lips.
“And I got completely ruined for them!”
Megan added that whatever she would do at the time, even if it was discussing a “serious” issue, the last question would always be about her lips.
And she insisted she was so “sick and tired” of the response to everything being “Megan and her big lips”, that she had no choice but to “get them all removed”.
“It’s out of order, isn’t it,” she sighed.
“Yeah, it is. It is, but I’m loving the natural rebrand,” Joe praised, before adding: “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a bit of Botox – prevention rather than cure.
“Do you know what I mean?”
A video of the podcast chat was shared on TikTok, with people quick to comment on Megan’s revelation.
“If someone wants to be taken seriously, you can’t really have Bratz lips I guess,” one wrote.
“So much better with a make under,” another said.
As a third praised: “She looks her best since giving birth!”
Had Our Fill campaign
Britain’s Botox and filler addiction is fuelling a £2.75billion industry.
The wrinkle-busting and skin plumping treatments account for 9 out of 10 cosmetic procedures.
50% of women and 40% of men aged 18 to 34 want to plump up their pouts and tweak their faces.
Fillers are totally unregulated and incredibly you don’t need to have ANY qualifications to buy and inject them.
83% of botched jobs are performed by people with no medical training, often in unsanitary environments – with devastating results.
Women have been left with rotting tissue, needing lip amputations, lumps and even blinded by botched jobs.
Despite the dangers, there is no legal age limit for dermal filler, which is why Fabulous has launched Had Our Fill, a campaign calling for:
- fillers to be made illegal for under 18s
- a crackdown on social media sites plugging fillers
- a Government-backed central register for practitioners with accredited qualifications
We’re working in conjunction with Save Face and are backed by the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
We want anyone considering a non-surgical cosmetic treatment to be well-informed to make a safe decision.
We’ve Had Our Fill of rogue traders and sham clinics – have you?
Megan previously said she feels as though she had a “massive dose of body dysmorphia” when she had the big lips.
“Honestly, I look back at myself and think: ‘Oh my God, what was I thinking?!’,” she sighed.
‘I feel like what I would like to say to my younger self is, you really need to accept the way you look.
“You lose yourself a bit and you forget.”
