He was taken to hospital where a post mortem examination was carried out.

Greek authorities then arranged for Ian to be returned to Barnsley, South Yorks.

But when the body arrived at Wakefield coroner’s office on July 1, officials raised an issue with the paperwork.

Ian’s son, Ross, 32, said: “They wanted to do a second post mortem.

“They weren’t 100% happy with the paperwork the Greeks had given them.”

“Then we got a call and they said, ‘His organs just aren’t there’.

“We were so shocked.”

Ross said he and sister Gemma, 40, still have not been given a cause of death and the family was fighting for answers.

He added: “We have heard nothing since, it’s all a bit of a mystery which is troubling to us as a family.

“And then to learn his organs are missing, it was a huge shock, we didn’t consent to that.”
