Dr Who actor Peter Capaldi has let slip a big secret of the hit show that will stun fans.
The star has admitted resorting to sticking lines of dialogue on his time-travelling TARDIS as pressures of filming the BBC show built up.
And he revealed he isn’t the first Doctor to use the same trick in the coveted role.
The Glasgow-born star played the sci-fi hero for three seasons but found it hard to keep up with the pace of making the hit series watched by millions.
Capaldi, 67, said: ‘It’s tough, but it’s great. I’m not complaining about it because it was blissful as well to be the centre of attention for so long.
‘You would run out of energy eventually. It would crush you.
‘To me the most important thing was doing the show and that was a lot of work.

‘You had to learn all those lines and you literally could not, there wasn’t enough time to learn all the lines.
‘On Thursday, you had lots of rewrites. By Friday, I no longer had a grasp of the lines.
‘So, I had to apologise to people in the morning and say, ‘Can we stick them up? Can I stick my lines on the TARDIS scanner?’
‘Then I discovered that that was a long-standing tradition among doctors, going back to the beginning ,of having bits of your script stuck to the TARDIS.’
‘I don’t like that, you know. I’d rather have a grasp of the whole thing.’
Capaldi was the 12th Doctor: He first appeared as the Doctor briefly in the 50th anniversary special episode and also played minor characters in previous series.
Peter’s Doctor fought Daleks and Davros, Cybermen, Zygons, the Veil and the Time Lords.
He has recently gone back to his musical roots and been touring with his own band.
