He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old girl who was seriously injured in the collision is in hospital in a critical condition.

Police believe the Fiesta may have been travelling in tandem with a white Suzuki Swift SZ3 just before the crash.

Three 18-year-old men and a 40-year-old man, who were arrested in connection with the collision, have since been released on bail.

In a short tribute to Sidney, his family said in a statement: “He was a beautiful son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew and friend to many.

“A hard-working cheeky chappy, who was deeply loved by all who knew him.”

Kevin Jackson has told how he and his family were in bed asleep when they were woken by a “loud bang” as the car hit their home in the early hours of Saturday.

He called for an ambulance after he found the Fiesta overturned with Sidney and the 17-year-old girl still inside the car.

Kevin told the BBC: “It’s a tragic loss of a young life.”

He added: “It’s a sad event.

“While we have got some mess to clear up, that’s a secondary issue.”

Flowers and tributes to “Sid” have been left at the scene.

One read: “You were a beautiful young man […] I’ll forever miss your happy presence.”

Another said: “Forever 18, forever loved. Taken far too soon. Rest in peace, darling boy.”

In a third tribute, Sidney was described as a “special soul” with “so much more life to live”.

West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team is continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information or footage which could help the inquiry is asked to contact the force on 101 or online, quoting log 0095 of December 20.
