My neighbour posted the creepiest Christmas card

WE all know about stranger danger, but no one tells you how to deal with a creepy neighbour.

And one woman has taken to social media to ask for advice after her neighbour sent her the creepiest Christmas card.

Posting to Reddit, she asked if she was overreacting to find her neighbour’s Christmas card unsettling.

She said: “This is a Christmas card I got from my neighbour.

“It’s really pretty weird and I feel rather creeped out by it but maybe I’m overreacting.

“I do not know this neighbour well at all, we’ve had pretty minimal interactions. I know he’s married with 3 young (under 10) kids.”

NOT KIDDING

I moaned my neighbour’s kid keeps me awake, but people say I’m being ‘entitled’

She went on to share a picture of the Christmas card and his note, which was written in hard-to-read cursive writing.

However, internet sleuths were quick to work out what he wrote.

The Christmas card read: “Dear Little Red-Haired Girl,

“We wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas for your first year in the neighbourhood.

“I know you live alone and don’t even have boys over, so if you are feeling lonely, don’t hesitate to come over.”

While the note seemed sweet to start with, he then revealed he would be alone at the time he asked her to come over.

The note continued: “My wife is taking the boys to see their grandpa this year (or week?) but I have to stay to work.

“The ER is always busy. I am an A&E doctor if you didn’t know. So I will be lonely this Christmas time.”

She revealed that there were three things she found creepy about the note, the first being how he addressed her.

She said: “Him addressing me as a little girl made my skin crawl. Why not use my name? My name was on the envelope so he does know it.”

The woman was also weirded out by the fact he was watching if she had any men come to her apartment and that he only invited her over when his wife and kids were out of town.

The Top Five Reasons Neighbours Squabble

One study by Compare the Market revealed the top reason British neighbour’s argue

  1. Broken fences – top of the board was broken fences and whose responsibility it was to fix it
  2. Parking: one of the leading drivers of neighbour disputes, with 54.1 per cent of people having issues with people parking in front of their house, parking bay or driveway
  3. Trees – complaints about a neighbour’s tree cracking your garden path was also common with nearly half of participants finding it frustrating
  4. Bin wars – outdoor bin etiquette continues to ignite the most furious debates between neighbours
  5. Nosy Neighbours – some people have their eyes and ears at the ready to have a peek causing problems for others

The post soon went viral on the subreddit AmIOverreacting and people were quick to say she wasn’t and needed to set up safety precautions.

One person wrote: “I would take precautions. Don’t respond. Put up a ring camera, lock your doors, make sure windows are locked and closed and put up privacy films on your windows. This is so creepy.”

Another commented: “I’d hand it directly to his wife.”

“This is not a time to be timid. Show the card to his wife and let her know any more communication from him will be considered harassment and dealt with accordingly,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “I’d probably consider moving if I was renting.”

“Girl, immediately no. It’s giving serial killer,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “This is creepy af. Not overreacting at all.”
