Lily Allen has revealed the reason she decided to get a boob job just weeks after leaving a trauma centre – as she shares the ‘devastating’ impact of her divorce from David Harbour.
The singer, 40, has had a tough year since her split from the Stranger Things star at the end of 2024 and revealed in February she had gone under the knife.
She revealed the surgery on her podcast, stating she did it for herself in order to ‘glow up’.
But now she has told The Observer that she really did it because she had lost a lot of weight after her split from David and was concerned that when the weight returned it would ‘go to her legs’.
She said: ‘Because I’ve always been really small up top, I was worried about becoming really bottom-heavy. And so I felt like…’
‘This is how I talk to myself! I felt like if I got boobs, it would make me feel better about gaining weight. So that was my reasoning.’
Lily Allen has revealed the reason she decided to get a boob job just weeks after leaving a trauma centre – as she shares the ‘devastating’ impact of her divorce from David Harbour
The singer, 40, has had a tough year since her split from the Stranger Things star at the end of 2024 and revealed in February she had gone under the knife
She had the plastic surgery right after spending two weeks in a trauma centre in Nashville due to the impact of the split which she has now described as ‘f***ing excruciatingly painful’ as well as ‘really helpful’.
In the interview she described visiting Kris Jenner’s plastic surgeon in Manhattan to find ‘her authentic self’ with the surgery – just days after spending three weeks in the trauma centre also trying to find her ‘authentic self’.
Lily told how she doesn’t remember much from that period of time but described how she was given Percocet by two of the nurses looking after her following the operation despite being sober.
The star – who has two daughters from a previous relationship – went on to discuss the divorce itself – calling it ‘devastating’ and something that kept her up at night, as well as ‘costing a huge amount of money’.
Saying she felt ‘utterly heartbroken’ in the aftermath of the split she stopped being able to sleep and eat.
She said: ‘I’d sit down at the breakfast table and try and get the girls to have their breakfast before school. And they’d go, ‘Mummy, your arms look so thin.’
Her new album West End Girl details her recovery from the breakup and alludes to numerous infidelities from David.
It comes after last week Lily proved her career is going better than ever thanks to the release of her tell-all album West End Girl as she stepped out of a new £120,000 Porsche.
Now she has told The Observer that she did it because she had lost a lot of weight after her split from David and was concerned that when the weight returned it would ‘go to her legs’
The singer’s latest record, which details the breakdown of her marriage to David, has won rave reviews and she is due to embark on an arena tour in 2026.
The success of the album – which reached number 2 in the UK – means Lily appears to have treated herself to an early Christmas present with her new set of wheels.
The hitmaker also proved she has expensive taste when it comes to fashion as she carried a £16,500 Hermes bag through the streets of east London.
Lily’s album recounts in painfully raw detail the collapse of her four-year marriage to David.
At its emotional core sits Madeline, a blistering track devoted entirely to the woman Lily believes her husband was involved with during their marriage.
In it, Lily sings of confronting the woman directly by text, asking: ‘How long has it been going on? Is it just sex or is there emotion?’
The lyrics sparked a frenzied online hunt among Lily’s millions of fans desperate to identify ‘Madeline’ – or, as the singer snarled in lyric form, ‘Who the f*** is Madeline?’
Despite Lily claiming the name was a pseudonym, the Mail on Sunday exclusively revealed Madeline to be costume designer Natalie Tippett.
It is understood that Natalie met 50-year-old David, who is 16 years her senior, while filming the Netflix movie We Have A Ghost in 2021, on location in New Orleans.
David was the movie’s leading man, while Natalie worked in the costume department. Their affair reportedly began shortly after shooting started.
But even after filming ended, he reportedly flew Natalie to his home in Atlanta, Georgia, as the affair continued behind Lily’s back.
Natalie broke her silence on the cheating accusations in a series of Instagram posts recently.
She denied claims of a long-term affair and said she felt ‘extremely violated’ by the way she has been portrayed by Lily.
‘I did not have a three year affair with anyone,’ she wrote. ‘I’m unsure why this person wants so badly to pit people against me or create this narrative that we both know is false based on the actual messages that I have saved between us. The same ones that have now been referenced in a song without my consent.
‘I don’t weaponize women against women for the behaviour of men, especially not in an open relationship. I’m wishing her all the success, money, healing and happiness and whatever else she’s seeking through this.’
The 34-year-old single mother said she is ‘aware of the repercussions speaking out’ may cause, but that it couldn’t be worse than ‘having to watch someone profit off painful lies’.
‘I’m a human being, not a character someone created,’ she added.
David married Lily, who has two daughters, Ethel, 13, and 12-year-old Marnie from her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, in Las Vegas the year before.
The couple, who had met on the celebrity dating app Raya, had disabled their profiles following a whirlwind romance.
The star went on to discuss the divorce itself – calling it ‘devastating’ and something that kept her up at night, as well as ‘costing a huge amount of money’ (seen with David in 2022)
But Lily decided to re-join the app to check on her husband’s activity and discovered he had a secret profile which had been active for around a month.
A source said at the time: ‘Lily was looking for women that were on Raya and cross-referencing them with women David follows on Instagram to try to figure out who he was seeing.’
Since the split, Lily has moved back to London and has bought an ex-council flat in a building near where she grew up.
She said: ‘I have wanted to live in this building since I was a baby, it’s been a dream of mine forever and finally a flat became available in here and I was in a position to buy it and I did.’
