WAYNE Lineker has updated fans after almost dying while in hospital being treated with pneumonia.
Earlier this month, the Celebs Go Dating star revealed how he’d come close to death, but has told fans of more heartbreaking news.
Posting from his hospital room, Wayne explained how that even though he was doing all the rehab prescribed by doctors he may still have to undergo major surgery.
“I know I look a bit rough. But, I’ve been through a lot this past couple of days,” he began.
“Parts of my lungs, weren’t clearing of the phlegm, and were very stubborn. So, they’re giving me breathing exercises which I’m doing daily, well hourly and being more active around the room.”
Wayne has been put on strong antibiotics in the hopes they will help clear the infection, but if it’s not improved by Monday he will be “in for an operation” that day or the Tuesday.
“Its a keyhole surgery and then they’ll go in and do what’s called a washout, and wash my lungs out and hopefully that will be the end of it,” he said.
“It will be touch and go whether I’ll be going home for Christmas. There’s your update. Thanks guys.”
Wayne first told fans been left unable to walk after being rushed to hospital after contracting a serious illness in early December.
Posting a video from his hospital bed, Wayne – who is the brother of footballer Gary Lineker – wrote alongside it: “I wanted to share a pneumonia update.
“The last 16 days have been the most traumatic of my life… a truly near-death experience.
“I honestly don’t think I would have been medically strong enough to survive it if I wasn’t four months sober.
“To the incredible NHS staff who cared for me: thank you. Those two words don’t feel enough, but I mean them with all my heart.
“Next season, I’ll be doing something special for NHS hospital workers across the UK to show my gratitude for saving my life.”
