‘Much-loved’ boy, 17, tragically dies in crash on major road as his heartbroken family pays tribute

A “MUCH-loved” teenager who tragically died during a horror smash on a major road has been pictured for the first time.

The family of Harley Patterson, 17, paid a touching tribute after the teen sadly died in a crash on the A19 in Elwick, County Durham, on Saturday.

Emergency crews were scrambled to reports of a single vehicle collision on the southbound carriageway at 11.15pm.

Harley, who had been driving a silver Ford C-Max, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland Police said: “Police can now name a 17-year-old boy who died in a collision on the A19 as Harley Patterson from the County Durham area.

“The incident happened around 11:15pm on Saturday 13th December.

“Today, Harley’s family paid tribute to him saying: “Harley was a much-loved son, brother and grandson and he will be sadly missed.”

“Our thoughts remain with Harley’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 238211.”
