Hero cop ‘killed Bondi Beach terrorist’ with ‘once in a lifetime shot’

A HEROIC detective reportedly killed the Bondi Beach terrorist with a “once in a lifetime shot” while moving out of cover from behind a tree.

Jaw-dropping footage showed the brave officer creeping up on the father and son duo before reportedly firing a fatal shot on the older gunman from about 40 metres away.

Naveed Akram, 24, and Sajid Akram, 50 have been identified as the suspected shooters who killed 15 people including a 10-year-old girl in Sydney on December 14.

New bombshell footage shows the courageous cop taking cover behind a tree before unleashing a burst of shots towards the ISIS-inspired dad.

Police called the hit a “once in a lifetime shot” and praised the detective’s fearless actions, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The hero officer is understood to have 15 years experience in the New South Wales Police Force.

In the extraordinary footage, the cop can be seen approaching the rifle-wielding assailants and taking shelter behind a tree.

He aims what appears to be a pistol towards the older gunman before letting off a volley of shots.

The 50-year-old shooter is seemingly hit by the detective, before he drops down to the ground behind cover.

His son then gets up again before facing down and exchanging fire with the composed cop.

It comes as a video recorded by the pair has been found at the Airbnb hired by the killers before their sick attack, the Daily Telegraph also reports.

The father and son posed with weapons and discussed their extremist views in the clip.

They had just returned to Sydney, Australia, from a month in the Philippines, a known breeding ground for Islamic extremism.

After returning from the Philippines the Akrams booked into a £45-a-night, short-term rental in Campsie, 12 miles from Bondi.

While they rented the Campsie property they told their family they were on a fishing trip.

Shocking images also showed bullet holes riddled across the windshield of one of the first police cars to arrive on scene after responding to the horror attack.

One of the police officers from that car is still in critical condition alongside one other cop.

A third female officer was also grazed by bullets during the terrifying attack.

New South Wales premier Chris Minns said the victims are aged between 10 and 87 years old.

The youngest confirmed victim has been identified as 10-year-old Matilda.

French national Dan Elkayam, 27, London-born dad-of-five Rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, and former cop Peter Meagher have also been confirmed among the deceased.

Alex Kleytman was a Holocaust survivor and died while protecting his wife of 57 years, Larisa.

Reuven Morrison, Rabbi Yaakov Levitan and Marika Pognay were also killed in the horrifying assault.

Following the carnage, at least 40 people were hospitalised, with six people still fighting for their lives, police confirmed.

As of Tuesday, 25 patients remain in hospital, local authorities said.

The bloodbath – which targeted a Jewish event celebrating Hanukkah – marks Australia’s worst mass shooting in 30 years.

It comes after dramatic footage showing a new angle of the Bondi Beach hero bystander tackling the ISIS-linked terrorist before being shot five times emerged.

Ahmed al Ahmed, 43, bravely wrestled the rifle out of the hands of one of the twisted gunmen people in the ghastly terror attack.

The older attacker was shot by police and died on the scene, while his son Naveed suffered “critical injuries” but is stable, the New South Wales police said in a statement.

Two improvised explosive devices were also found at the scene that were “active”, New South Wales police commissioner Mal Lanyon revealed.

It has since emerged that both the father and son allegedly spent a month in the Philippines, which is said to be an ISIS training hotspot.

Politicians must wake up to threat

By Noa Hoffman

THE Jewish community in Sydney lives peacefully among the sand and sea.

They work hard, spend weekends surfing, jogging along the golden crescent coastline, and slurp green smoothies under the blazing sun – like every other Bondi Aussie.

They chill on the beach, and every year at Chanukah they eat jam doughnuts and light a menorah.

I know this all too well because the eastern suburbs of Sydney are where I grew up – my life before moving to the UK.

Bondi is home to Sydney’s vibrant Jewish community, including my grandmother, sister, aunts and many cousins.

In a tragic turn, the beautiful beach life I enjoyed until 19 is no more.

Sydney’s small, quiet Jewish community, like Britain’s, now finds itself at the mercy of Islamist extremists.

These vile radicals – who do not represent mainstream Muslims – have been left to fester, almost unchecked, in closed-off pockets that refuse to integrate with wider society.

They’re aided and abetted by woke lefties who are obsessed with Israel.

Most dangerously, they’re wilfully ignored by MPs who enjoy the votes that come with appeasing them.

The result of politicians in Australia and Britain turning a blind eye to these dangerous extremists is death.

Death that struck at the Heaton Park Synagogue on Yom Kippur, in my adopted home of England.

And death in my birthplace this Chanukah, at a joyful party by the Sydney sea.

Thankfully my family in Bondi are all ok – but they are also distraught with fear.

Until politicians, particularly Labour, wake up to this threat, more of these grim days will unfold.

Leave a sick, twisted ideology like extremist Islamism to rot, and consequences follow.

For some Labour MPs that may mean more votes – but for my deeply patriotic, quiet community, who just want to get on with life, it means murder.

I hope politicians choose the right path.

A major probe has now been launched into the pair’s activity while visiting the Southeast Asian nation, which is infamous for hosting ISIS training camps.

Early intelligence suggests the Akrams allegedly “self-radicalised”, but investigators are probing whether overseas contacts may have recently hardened their views.

The Akrams returned to Australia just weeks before they opened fire on the Jewish gathering of about 1,000 people.

Police then arrived, shooting Sajid dead and critically wounding Naveed.

Investigations into the terror attack are ongoing and have been split between several forces.

Police presence around Synagogues and Jewish landmarks has also been increased in the wake of the massacre.

In what appears to be a disturbing act of revenge, pig heads have been thrown onto Muslim graves at a cemetery in western Sydney.

Israeli intelligence sources also claim the attack may have been planned by Iran.

A terror cell backed by Tehran could have orchestrated the bloodbath, intelligence sources say.

Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese has branded the attacks an “antisemitic terrorism incident”, while also pledging stricter gun controls.

Albanese claimed the pair weren’t part of a specific terror cell – but were “clearly” motivated by “extremist ideology”.

On Monday, heartbreaking images showed scores of mourning Aussies line up to pay their respects to the victims.

Crowds of locals visited Bondi Beach to place flowers and emotional letters by the site of the devastating assault.
