ANTHONY JOSHUA is HAPPY that he got the chance to cut weight ahead of his fight with Jake Paul.
Joshua, 36, and Paul, 28, are scheduled to lock horns in their highly-publicised and controversial bout on December 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
AJ is set for a very different fight, and it’s not just because he will be competing against a YouTuber who has only faced two active professional boxers – and lost to one of them.
The British superstar is contractually obliged to dramatically cut his weight down and weigh no more than 245lbs (17.5st).
Team Paul slapped Joshua with a weight restriction for the Florida fisticuffs in a bid to try to level the uneven fighting field.
The Watford bruiser has obliged and insists he is in the best shape of his life by describing the weight challenge he recently underwent as a “blessing in disguise”.
The heavyweight joined Paul in an interview on his opponent’s YouTube channel and said he feels stronger and faster.
Joshua said: “[I] Never had to make weight. Never.
“I do [feel better]. I feel great. I’m blessed, I feel happy that this task was put upon me because I wouldn’t have pushed myself to get to a certain weight.
“I would have just been doing what I do usually, I feel really good so I think it was a blessing in disguise.”

The weigh-in between Joshua and Paul is set for Thursday, December 18 in Miami.
The London 2012 Olympic gold medallist shared a video of himself stepping on the scales on his Instagram and Twitter pages.
And the clip revealed that he was well under the limit imposed on him as he was weighing 243.8lbs.
Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua – all the info
A true Christmas miracle!
The world will stand still THIS FRIDAY as the face of British boxing, Anthony Joshua, is all set to go up against social media sensation Jake Paul.
AJ steps in on a month’s notice after Paul’s ‘David vs Goliath’ Gervonta Davis clash was axed due to Tank’s civil suit case.
And Joshua will be desperate not to suffer the same fate as legends Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, who both lost to YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.
Particularly as a handsome figure was negotiated to get this Judgement Day deal over the line due to AJ’s DAZN contract.
