Award-winning comic in talks for second series of The Celebrity Traitors after they were forced to pull out of debut run

DAISY MAY COOPER is being lined up for the next series of ratings hit, The Celebrity Traitors.

I hear the BBC is keen to bag the star of This Country and Never Mind The Buzzcocks after she originally signed to appear in autumn’s season one but quit before filming started in April.

They reckon Daisy could provide big laughs just like this year’s winner, comedian Alan Carr.

A source said: “Daisy is telly gold. She’s hilarious and would be perfect.

“Show bosses are pulling out all the stops to make this happen.”

Mum-of-three Daisy pulled out of this year’s series after the birth of her son Benji as she did not want to be away from home, filming.

‘Most-watched’

But The Celebrity Traitors went on to become the most-watched show of the year, with 15million viewers tuning in for the final.

Some 19 celebrities, including Sir Stephen Fry, actress Celia Imrie, Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed and former rugby player Joe Marler, joined the game of backstabbing, trust and deception.

Daisy would head into series two as favourite after comic Alan did so well.

Meanwhile, like a ghost of Christmas past, he popped up to help promote the new civilian Traitors series, which starts on New Year’s Day.

In a trailer for the show, on BBC One and iPlayer, he cackled: “Good luck, you’re going to need it!”

I honestly can’t wait.
