BOXING legends Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson will meet in a blockbuster exhibition bout in March 2026.
The two iconic fighters shocked the world by announcing that a deal had been struck for them to come out of retirement and do battle in the ring.
Mayweather, 48, last fought professionally in 2017 when he beat Conor McGregor and has since competed in several exhibition fights, with the most recent versus John Gotti III in August 2024.
‘Money’ boasts a 50-0 record, winning 15 major world championships across five weight classes.
Tyson, 59, retired in 2005 and is a former undispisted heavyweight world champion.
Iron Mike made a comeback in November 2024 when he laboured to defeat against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a clash watched by 60 million households worldwide.
By the time they step in the ring, Mayweather and Tyson will have a combined age of 107 and many boxing purists have criticised it as a match-up of granddads and “anything but generational”.
When is Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Tyson?
An exact date is yet to be released, but Tyson confirmed it will take place in March 2026.
A venue has also not been announced but somewhere in Africa is the likely destination.
How can I watch Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Tyson?
A broadcaster has not been confirmed.
But after the commercial success of Tyson vs Paul, Netflix are one of the favourites to snap up the TV rights.
The event will be put on by CSI Sports/Fight Sports.
What are the rules of Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Tyson?
The bout is not expected to be sanctioned as a professional fight to avoid the need to agree on a weight class and to allow for rule tweaks.
Mayweather weighed 154lbs for his last pro fight versus McGregor, while Tyson tipped the scales to 227.2lbs against Paul.
During that fight, rule changes saw the bout shortened to just eight rounds lasting two minutes each, with both Tyson and Paul wearing heavier gloves too.
Similar measures are expected for this one.
Who is on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather vs Mike Tyson?
Again, this is yet to be confirmed but given the huge audience expected for the main event, a strong undercard is likely.
What has been said?
Mayweather said: “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy.
“You already know that if I am going to do something, it’s going to be big and it’s going to be legendary.
“I’m the best in the business of boxing.
“This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
Tyson said: “When CSI came to me about stepping in the ring with Floyd Mayweather, I thought, ‘No way this happens’. But Floyd said ‘yes’.
“I was minding my own business. I wasn’t bothering nobody. He just wanted to pick a fight.
“This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen.
“However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable, and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.
“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this.
“It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening.”
